As a requirement, all crew are trained in First Aid in line with the ATACC Integrated Emergency Care Programme (IECP) which progresses crew from basic through to advanced levels of skill. IECP is a progressive and systematic pathway to enhancing skills and empowering crew to save lives. This is divided into two levels:
FTACC
RTACC
FTACC
FTACC is a Qualsafe accredited course that meets the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care (FPHC), Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) guidelines level B of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is equivalent to Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW).
FTACC exceeds the minimum standards set by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and uses a unique new approach to identify and treat the ill and injured.
FTACC adopts a new and innovative approach to the essentials of first aid at work with the emphasis very much on the person attending. Casualty care has developed and changed over the years and first aiders need to re-focus their care. FTACC achieves this through our new B.U.R.P.S approach, which rapidly identifies and then colour codes the problem from minor to life-threatening.
FTACC trained crew can:
Assessing an incident
Managing an unresponsive casualty
CPR and defibrillation Recovery Position Choking Seizures Shock Wounds and bleeding Catastrophic Bleeds Minor injuries Cuts, grazes and bruises Minor burns and scalds
RTACC
RTACC is a QNUK regulated course that meets the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care (FPHC), Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) guidelines level E of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. RTACC provides additional skills at every level of the M.A.R.C.H approach; a very simple and systematic way of dealing with a wide range life threatening, time critical injuries. RTACC has become the course of choice for fire and rescue services, police forces (D13 & D13E) and industries who operate in high risk, remote or hostile environments, not just in the UK but across the world.

Vehicles
Medic 1
Our Co-Responder Car, Medic 1, is fully kitted out as a RRV (Rapid Response Vehicle). It is a 2010 Ford Focus Estate that was donated to us by a Private Ambulance Company that no longer required it, but wanted to see it used by a good cause. In a previous life, it was used by the Welsh Ambulance Service in and arround Cardiff. This can attend events on its own when Firefighting capabilities aren't required for the event. It may also be used at larger events to provide an additional medical resource when required. Medic 1 is normally manned by those trained to RTACC levels of care
Equipment
Medic 1
Medic 1 is kitted out as a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV). Its carrys everything that could be needed and is usually first on scene at an incident. The Veicle carries: Primary Response Bag (Green) This is kitted out to the RTACC standard in the M.A.R.C.H layout so that the right equipment is quickly avalible when needed. This also includes a G3 AED
Secondary Response Bag (Red) This is our 'Odds and Sods' bag. It contains a wide arrange of equipment for the most common minor injuries we come across
Zoll E Series Monitor/AED The Zoll Eseries is our multi function device that allows us to take Patient Observations easily. It can take a patients Pulse Rate, Oxygen Saturation, Blood Pressure and even run electrocardiograms. It also functions as an AED
Fire 1
As well as fire fighting equipment, Fire 1 also carries a variety of Medical Equipment. This allows Firefighters to administer life saving interventions as soon as they arrive on scene. The vehicle carries: Trauma Care Bag
Similar to a Primary Response Bag, this is kitted out to RTACC standard in the M.A.R.C.H layout. It contains a variety of life saving interventions. This includes a G3 AED Airway Bag
This contains everything needed to maintain an airway and provide oxygen to a patient. This is used on casualties that may have inhaled smoke Extraction Equipment
As well as administering aide to patienmts, Fire 1 also carrys equipment such as a scoop and backboard to allow effective extraction and transport of patients
Vast majority of our medical bags are provided by Openhouse and are custom made for our specific requirements
