It’s been a busy month for our crews taking part in Training and Development. With 4 crew completing their Rescue, Trauma and Casualty Care (RTACC) Course. This saw them taking part in Lectures, Skill Stations and Scenarios in Massive Haemorrhages, Airway Management, Respiratory Issues, Circulatory Issues and Head Injuries. This qualification is in line with Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) guidelines level E of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
We also had 5 crew members complete their First Aid, Trauma and Casualty Care (FTACC). Learning about managing Massive Haemorrhages and Cardiac Arrests. This qualification is in line with Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) guidelines level B of The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
As well as these qualifications, all crew are now qualified to use Penthrox. Penthrox Methoxyflurane is the new hand-held emergency pain relief inhaler and delivers an analgesic medicine quickly to accident victims and trauma patients transforming the management of emergency pain relief. This is soon to be carried on all our vehicles along with our medical kits.
