Aviation Fire and Rescue Service are capable of supporting motorsports events through the application of both ‘domestic’ fire cover and supporting motorsport marshalling/rescue teams by providing assistance in scene management, spectator and track safety and person extrication.
During Motorsport events, the Aviation Fire and Rescue crew will usually work alongside motorsport marshals to provide both fire cover and assist in providing a co-ordinated, professional initial response to incidents, whether this is track-side or even within the public areas of the site.
Our appliance carries a wide range of equipment to deal with incidents. This includes a range of lower end fire-fighting mediums such as extinguishers and fire blankets through to water and foam. We also carry a range of tools and cutting equipment which means we can effectively make vehicles safe in the event of incidents, as well as extricate patients safely and efficiently. We also operate a fully equipped rapid response medical car which can work alongside a main appliance to provide initial medical care at incidents.
Many of our crew are also trained to emergency care level. As such, the crew is well versed in dealing with vehicle incidents and can be an asset in either supporting motorsport rescue crews, or indeed on their own merit working on their own. The crew have ability to respond to the incident, make the scene safe and ensure that patients are extricated and removed from the ‘hot zone’ of an incident where necessary so that they can be treated.
We can assist with a wide range of motorsport events, from time trials, classic car rallies and hill climbs through to motorcross, rally and circuit events. If you think we may be of use to your event, please get in touch!
