Aviation Fire and Rescue was orignally two seperate services based out of Brooklands Museum and Gatwick Aviation Museum. The services were in place to cover Airfield Operations and Engine Runs. Both services had their own crew and equipment and initially ran independently of one another.
After some time, it was then considered sensible and necessary to pool the resources of both the services in order to provide a far better service to both of the important heritage sites. This then formed what has now become, Aviation Fire and Rescue Service.
Today, we provide cover to both sites, including coverage for airfield operations and engine runs as well as full fire coverage for the many events the sites run. We also provide the same service to other community and charity events and organisations. We provide this service for free, or at low/cost price, allowing the recipient to have professional fire cover, but with none of the associated costs so that they can reinvest the money into their own charities' aims.
